Each summer, alumni return to campus for Reunion Weekend. The reactions are priceless, choruses of “remember when” heard all across campus. Here, you’ll find photos from the weekend, along with snippets of seen and overheard moments.
She beams, standing in the partial shade behind Cannon Memorial Chapel. A white sash hangs from one shoulder, the lettering hailing Laura Lee H. Chandler, W’74, as a leader during her class’s 50th reunion. “I’ve kept my class together all these years,” she says, shifting the cardboard bouquet to pose for a photo. “They all signed the back of the sash, see?” She turns to show off the crowd of signatures trailing down to her hip. “I joined the reunion committee at our fifth anniversary. And I’ve been class secretary for … well, forever.”
The Forum is crisscrossed every which way, alumni steering their steps to the Spider Shop, the dining hall, a walk around the lake. They stop to admire all that has changed and all that has remained the same. They revel most in the constancy, fond memories spilling from their lips as fast as they can recall them. “Shall we go to our usual spot?” one alum asks their group. They nod in quick agreement.
A person waves across the sea of partygoers to get someone’s attention, their gestures becoming bigger and more obvious as time passes. Inevitably, they give up and chase down their old friend.
