Spiders are infinitely fascinating and consistently surprising. The Spider Questionnaire aims to capture the energy of our common bonds and range of our various experiences. It’s a brief but meaningful look at the paths we take, the lessons we’ve learned, and what it means to be a Spider.

How it works

The Spider Questionnaire is made up of these 10 simple questions:

  • What’s the best thing to happen to you in the last few years?
  • At this point in your life, what’s the most important thing you’ve learned?
  • What makes you optimistic?
  • What’s something you’ve held onto since college?
  • What’s something you’ve had to learn the hard way?
  • What’s your advice for students on campus today?
  • What’s the most surprising place you’ve ever run into another Spider?
  • What does being a Spider mean to you?
  • What’s one thing you’ve learned not to worry about?
  • What is something about yourself or the world that you hope is different in 10 years?

We invite all alumni to share their responses for possible publication. Submit your response to magazine@richmond.edu. We’ll review it, consider it for publication and, if it’s a go, request photos from you to go with your questionnaire.

What we're looking for

The best responses are curious, thoughtful, honest, and grounded in real experiences. They are something you might say during a great, in-person conversation with someone whose company you’re enjoying. Our goal with this series is to bring the Spider community closer together by helping us know one another better.
