UR named one of nation’s top liberal arts colleges

The University of Richmond was once again named one of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges. UR earned the No. 22 spot in the U.S. News & World Report 2025–26 Best Colleges guide. This ranking marks the ninth consecutive year that Richmond has landed in the top 25.

The university also earned recognition as one of the top 10 “Most Innovative Schools,” climbing to No. 8 from No. 13 last year. The designation highlights innovative improvements in curriculum, faculty development, student life, and facilities.

“Innovation is a key theme woven throughout our academic offerings and programming and is integral to the liberal arts,” said Joan Saab, executive vice president and provost.

Signs of innovation are visible across campus. This fall, students returned to modern study spaces and easier access to resources following the completion of the first phase of a major renovation and expansion of Boatwright Memorial Library.

Students also receive next-level academic support through the Weinstein Learning Center, which supports students in every aspect of their academic journey. Additionally, faculty benefit from Richmond’s investments, with the Faculty Hub offering tailored resources for teaching and scholarship.

“We consistently review and expand our existing opportunities to best serve our students,” Saab said. “For example, we are using AI to enhance learning and research across disciplines and ensure our students are prepared to lead in a rapidly evolving world.”

These rankings recognize UR’s consistency and upward trajectory.

“The University of Richmond offers a rigorous liberal arts education and a tight-knit community, with transformative learning and mentorship opportunities both in and outside the classroom,” Kevin F. Hallock, president, said. “Together, our remarkable students, staff, and faculty continue to achieve so much. We have terrific momentum, and our future is bright.”
