Civic Engagement

Devin Morgan, ’26, named Newman Civic Fellow

Devin Morgan, ’26, a political science major with a minor in environmental studies, has devoted a large part of his undergraduate experience to civic initiatives. This fall, he was named a 2025–26 Newman Civic Fellow.

The recognition comes from Campus Compact, a national coalition of colleges and universities working to advance the public purposes of higher education. This is the eighth consecutive year that a UR student has received the designation.

Morgan has completed experiences with two Richmond-area nonprofits: the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter, an environmental organization, and Shalom Farms, which focuses on food justice. As a junior, he completed an immersive study abroad that took him to Morocco, Nepal, and Ecuador.

“For me, being civically engaged is about treating whatever community you’re in like home and the people who inhabit it like family,” he said. “That sense of responsibility pushes me to stay committed to service, whether locally in Richmond, back home in Houston, or abroad.”
