Spider Family

The Nash family bleeds Spider red and blue

When game day rolls around, there’s only one team the Nash family is cheering for: the Richmond Spiders.

The family ties run deep. Beth Nash, a board of trustees volunteer, earned her MBA from Richmond in 1993. Soon after, she married Bill, and they put down roots in the Richmond area. The couple’s three daughters — Emma, ’20, Addie, ’22, and Annie, ’25 — all played field hockey at UR.

Their web keeps growing. Emma married Tim Miller, ’20 and GC’21, who played Spider baseball, in the Chapel in 2022. Addie married Connor Crabtree, ’22 and GC’23, who played men’s basketball. Annie is currently dating Jason Roche, ’25, also a former men’s basketball player.

It even includes Yeti, the family dog. He makes frequent campus visits as a therapy dog, seeing athletes on Wellness Wednesdays.

“We don’t have any traditions, we don’t have any superstitions, but we have a lot of blue and red clothing in every size,” Beth said. “And, we do have a big group text with all eight of us. We call it The Crew. Whenever there’s something Spider going on, somebody will hit it with ‘Go Spides!’”

The Nash family recently grew by one more with 1-year old Ameera, Emma and Tim’s foster daughter. Beth made sure Ameera was dressed and ready for Homecoming 2025.

“I went to the bookstore and bought her a cheerleading outfit and a little smock dress,” Beth said during the fall. “She’ll be tailgating with us.”
